In 2030, spending on global sports rights will top $78 billion, according to new data from Ampere, a 20 percent increase from this year.
The growth is being driven by major renewal cycles in the U.S. as well as rising competition from the streamers. In 2030, the U.S. market alone will be worth more than $36 billion. Europe is projected to see a 17 percent gain to $21.3 billion, driven in part by the FIFA World Cup and the Winter Olympics.
Asian sports rights spend is expected to rise from $7.2 billion this year to $9.8 billion in 2030 thanks to Indian cricket deals once that cycle begins in 2027.
