BBC Factual has unveiled three new standalone docs for BBC Two and BBC iPlayer that explore health and medical issues, including Plastic in Our Bodies from Lion Television, with All3Media International handling global sales.
Plastic in Our Bodies is presented by biologist Liz Bonnin, who fronted Drowning in Plastic in 2018. It is made by Lion Television Scotland in partnership with The Open University. Emma Barnett: Endometriosis (w.t) is made by Raw and follows as Barnett opens up about her own journey with the disease. A Bitter Pill: The Sodium Valproate Scandal (w.t) hails from Little Gem.
“Our social feeds are full of health advice and clickbait headlines, but they rarely give us the full picture of what’s going on in people’s lives across the U.K.,” said Tom Coveney, head of science commissioning at the BBC. “These powerful documentaries will get under the skin of shocking stories that are often life-changing but woefully under-reported and little understood. They’ll also highlight the work of brilliant British scientists doing ground-breaking work to help us all live happier, healthier lives.”
