BiggerStage has launched a new initiative to help format creators get pilots made, with the plan to produce up to six annually at its new Global Production Hub in Ireland.
Part of its Format Factory initiative, Pilot Plus will give producers the chance to fund, shoot, test, and scale new formats, leveraging Ireland’s new unscripted tax credit. All Pilot costs will be eligible for this 20% credit if incurred within six months of a full series production being filmed in Ireland.
Pat Kiely, CEO and founder of BiggerStage, said, “Betting on a paper format in today’s climate is a risk that increasingly few buyers are prepared to take. Pilot Plus will help producers bring their work to life in a high-quality, highly cost-efficient location. With the added benefits of a sophisticated, experienced and talented crew base—and Europe’s only unscripted tax credit—we are delighted with the interest in creating new formats in Ireland already, following our launch this week at MIPCOM. We are looking forward to selecting initial partners and bringing their formats to life over the coming weeks. We are ready to go!”
