EarthX has secured the rights to Leviathan: Whale and Man from BIG Media for launch on Earth Day across its U.S. cable and FAST channels, which are focused on conservation and sustainability.
Directed by Steve Lichtag, the doc investigates phenomena such as rare whale sightings, mass strandings, and surprising predator-prey interactions as it explores how marine ecosystems can be protected.
“Leviathan arrives at a moment when the health of our oceans and the role of large marine species within fragile ecosystems are being widely examined and debated,” said Danny Wilk, president and co-founder of BIG Media. “This documentary combines rigorous scientific inquiry with striking cinematography to explore the evolving relationship between humans and whales within the broader marine environment. EarthX has built a strong reputation for presenting thoughtful, high-quality environmental programming, making it the ideal home for a film that raises timely and important questions about conservation, science, and the future of our oceans.”
“We are pleased to add Leviathan to our lineup of entertaining factual programming, which celebrates the beauty and awesome wonder of our planet,” said Ross Mason, VP of content for EarthX Media. “As a powerful documentary on whale conservation and the complex relationship humanity has with our oceans, we are thrilled for its premiere during our Earth Week celebrations as The Official Network of Earth Day.”
