Seoul-based content IP agency Just iPicked has landed a U.S. option on the comedy format Battle in the Box with Jenny Daly’s Studio82.
Created and produced by South Korea’s NMedia, the format features two teams of celebrities competing for space in an empty box, participating in challenges to win everyday comforts and push a movable wall further into their opponents’ territory.
The deal was sealed between Daly, founder and CEO of Studio82, and Praise Shin, MD of Just iPicked, which represents the format, already remade in the U.K. (U&Dave) and Sweden (Prime Video).
“Studio82 was built to champion bold, sticky formats that stand out in a crowded landscape,” Daly said. “Battle in the Box is pure, addictive entertainment where the spatial constraints drive incredible psychological drama and humor, giving us an incredible foundation to package and launch it for U.S. platforms.”
Shin added, “‘Battle in the Box has a hook audiences can understand instantly: to gain more space, you have to take it from the other team. What makes it entertaining is how each cast brings its own humor, chemistry and competitive instincts to that premise. Following adaptations in the U.K. and Sweden, we’re delighted to partner with Jenny and Studio82 on the next step in the format’s international journey, as we head into MIPCOM.”
