Nation’s Dumbest Format Lands at FOX

Jack Whitehall will host the American version of the BBC Studios-distributed game-show format Nation’s Dumbest on FOX this summer.

Last month, BBC Studios revealed new deals on the format in Hungary with RTL and in Denmark with TV2.

Created by Montreux Film and Fjernsyn, the format has been adapted successfully on TF1 in France and on TV4 in Sweden. It’s returning for its third season in its home market of Norway.

The American edition premieres July 15 with contenders Hilaria Baldwin, Carmen Electra, Anthony Michael Hall, Jon Heder, Chase Hudson, Ice-T, Elle King, Matt Leinart, Dr. Drew Pinsky, Steve-O, JoJo Siwa, and Andrew Yang.

Nation’s Dumbest takes an instantly relatable format and flips it in a way that’s ‘smart,’ unpredictable, and genuinely funny,” said Michael Thorn, president of FOX Television Network. “It’s a competition where the goal is to avoid winning, and that twist—combined with Jack Whitehall’s sharp comedic voice and a great celebrity cast—makes it a bold, high-energy series built for big, co-viewing audiences.”

“I can confidently say we have the absolute dumbest television format in the world—and for once, that’s by design,” said Ryan O’Dowd, president of unscripted at BBC Studios. “Nation’s Dumbest celebrates humor, humility, and the universal experience of not always getting it right. With Jack Whitehall leading the chaos and a cast fully in on the joke, it’s a bold, irreverent series packed with big laughs and real surprises.”
