Werewolves Scores Norwegian Adaptation

Mastiff Norway is producing a local version of CANAL+’s Werewolves for TV 2.

The format has now reached four markets, including the Netherlands on Disney+. It is represented by STUDIOCANAL and Dreamspark, and was first broadcast on CANAL+ in 2024 as Les Loups-garous de Thier-celieux, adapted from a board game and created and produced by Presque Prod and JAAD Productions. Last year, Banijay Entertainment acquired the rights to represent the format in the U.S., Australia and New Zealand, the U.K., Spain, Portugal, Italy, the Nordics, the Netherlands, Israel, Mexico, Brazil and India.

Hege Vik Hansen, creative director at Mastiff Norway, commented, “We were drawn to Werewolves as it brings a unique twist to the reality genre. Every player enters the game with a role, a set of rules and their own agenda, creating a compelling mix of strategy, deception and psychology. We’ve created a version with its own distinct identity, while the hosts Truls and Oskar bring humor and personality, adding another dimension to the format. We can’t wait for audiences to step into the world of Werewolves and watch the game unfold.”

Helen Greatorex, head of format acquisitions at Banijay Entertainment, added, “Werewolves is exactly what buyers are looking for right now, a high-stakes scalable social strategy format with flexibility for local adaptation. Following its successful launch in the Netherlands, it’s fantastic to see Norway become the latest territory to join the pack, and we’re looking forward to showcasing its growing international appeal at MIPCOM.”

Moe Bennani, CEO of Dreamspark, added, “Norway turned the psychological game into primetime entertainment, so Werewolves arriving there feels like a natural next step. TV2 and Mastiff Norway have made the format their own: hidden roles the audience doesn’t know about, reveals unfolding over the sea-son, an entire forest where every whisper is on camera. That is the DNA of Werewolves. After France, Norway becomes the fourth market to produce the format, taking it to a bold new scale. The map is still largely blank… for now.”

Arnaud Chautard, the owner of the format at Jaad Productions, commented, “We are truly delighted to see Loups-Garous continue its international expansion. The confidence the international market continues to place in our format is a testament to its quality, and we are incredibly proud of its growing success.”
