Doc and specialist factual producer Rare TV, which has just landed a U.S. recommission on Ice Airport Alaska, has tapped Matt Cole as its new creative director.
Cole, succeeding Fernando de Jesus, spent almost ten years as executive producer and creative director at Keo Films, working on such titles as Chimp Empire (Netflix) and Inside the American Embassy (Channel 4).
“It’s a privilege to be working with a team trusted to deliver such an impressive and broad slate of returning series for buyers in the U.K., Ireland, and the USA,” Cold said. “The company’s hard-earned expertise in factual storytelling equips it well to now widen its output as a first-class producer and content studio.”
“I’ve been tracking Matt’s work for the past couple of years and have been very impressed at how he operates with creativity and an impressive ability to see the entire picture due to his vast experience,” added Alexander Gardiner, chair of Rare TV. “I am delighted he’s joining us at such a pivotal moment for the company and the wider industry.”
Smithsonian Channel has renewed Rare’s Ice Airport Alaska for a seventh season, capping off a 12-month period in which the company made more than 60 hours, including Digging for Britain (BBC Two).
