Radioactive Wolves Doc Set for Update at ORF

ORF Universum Nature’s acclaimed Radioactive Wolves documentary is being updated this year, revisiting Chernobyl 40 years after the nuclear disaster.

The original Radioactive Wolves was produced as an international co-production by ORF, epo film, WNET, and NDR. Directed by Klaus Feichtenberger, it was the first documentary to thoroughly explore the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, exploring how wolves and other species reclaimed the abandoned landscape.

Radioactive Wolves—Chernobyl’s Forbidden Wilderness returns to explore the area four decades since the disaster and provide a look at how the Russian invasion of Ukraine has affected both the ecosystem and scientific research. Once an international open-air laboratory is now a demilitarized zone following the onset of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. It features newly gathered scientific information, expert interviews, and new footage, with a team travelling to Ukraine earlier this year.

Radioactive Wolves—Chernobyl’s Forbidden Wilderness is scheduled for release next month, with ORF-Enterprise handling global sales.
