Sky has acquired The Salisbury Poisonings: A Spy Next Door from Propagate Content for broadcast on Sky Documentaries next month.
The one-off special explores the 2018 poisoning of former Russian intelligence officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia. It reconstructs Skripal’s life as a spy using his own words and features rare interviews with former Prime Minister Theresa May, former Home Secretary Amber Rudd, National Security Advisor Sir Mark Sedwill, MI6 Chiefs Sir John Sawers and Sir Richard Dearlove, counter-terrorism officers Neil Basu and Dean Haydon and ex-KGB agents. Also featured in the 90-minute doc is testimony from Salisbury citizens, plus exclusive scenes with investigative journalist Christo Grozev.
Dan Vernon directs the film, produced by Alex Brisland with EPs Hamish Fergusson and Kari Lia. The CNN Films title was produced by Passion Pictures in association with Propagate Content and West Buttermilk.
