The Broadcast Program Export Association of Japan (BEAJ) is returning to MIPCOM with its popular Treasure Box Japan event on the market’s opening day, with ten new IPs set to be presented.
Treasure Box Japan, taking place on October 12, has been running for more than a decade. The 2026 edition will see the involvement of Nippon TV, Yomiuri TV, Chukyo TV Broadcasting, TV Asahi, Asahi Television Broadcasting Corporation, TBS Television, MBS, TV Tokyo, Fuji Television, and Kansai Television.
The long-running showcase is embracing a new model this year, replacing the combination of broadcaster trailers and on-stage presentations by company representatives with a trailer-driven showcase followed by a panel discussion with format experts.
Virginia Mouseler, CEO of The WIT, will serve as MC and moderator. Tim Crescenti, CEO of Small World, and Vasha Wallace, international format consultant (former EVP of Fremantle), will feature on the panel along with Makito Sugiyama, executive director, business management at BEAJ. Andrew Eborn will also return as audience host.
“By bringing Japan’s newest formats together and unveiling them to the international industry on the opening day of MIPCOM, we want to expand the business opportunities for each title and help spark the next global hit to originate in Japan,” said Sugiyama, who is EP af Treasure Box Japan.
A networking cocktail will follow the showcase, set to be held at the Hi5 Studio in the Palais from 4 to 4:50 p.m.
The formats being launched are Nippon TV’s ULTRA MISSION, Fuji Television’s Tri-Tag, TV Tokyo’s Charge Me Up!, Kansai Television’s Panic Wheel, Chukyo TV Broadcasting’s SAVE MONEY, TBS Television’s Fort Frensy, TV Asahi’s TRADE ROOM, Asahi Television Broadcasting’s BET ON WHAT’S NEXT, MBS’s Tested & Ranked, and Yomiuri TV’s Cash Stash.
