“Most Ambitious Slate to Date” for Netflix Thailand

Netflix in Thailand has commissioned three new series, four films, and its first local documentary feature—a true-crime special co-produced with Beach House Pictures—for its 2026 lineup, which is its “most ambitious slate to date” in the Southeast Asian nation.

The streamer says the 2026 lineup meets the needs of shifting viewing habits and reflects the gains made in the Thai creative ecosystem. Local content has proven to be very sticky for the platform in the country; last year, more than 90 percent of Netflix members in Thailand watched local content.

Netflix says that 35 local shows have hit the global top ten, including 17 Netflix originals. Thai content has generated more than 750 million viewing hours worldwide. Between 2021 and 2024, Netflix invested $200 million in local content.

“We want Netflix to be the destination where audiences can immerse themselves in all the stories they love, enjoying familiar favorites while discovering world-class originals from local creators,” says Malobika Banerji, senior director of content for Southeast Asia at Netflix.

The series slate includes The Evil Lawyer, directed by Nottapon Boonkrapob; Delusion and the Empress of Flames remake from Kantana. Films greenlit are The Debt Collector, My Dearest Assassin, The Red Line, and Overacting. Chompoo: Lost & Forgotten is Netflix Thailand’s first true-crime documentary. It is co-produced with Singapore’s Beach House Pictures and Thai Film Works.

The platform is also licensing a wealth of local content, including more than 600 hours of box office hits, series, and unscripted shows.

“Expanding our licensed programming is also a way for us to support the broader Thai industry,” said Banerji. “By working with more studios and rights-holders, we’re able to offer viewers the shows they already follow while helping these stories reach even bigger audiences.”

“Thai audiences are opening the door to more genres and perspectives, and creators are responding with ideas that are bolder and more inventive,” Banerji added. “Our role is to give those stories the space, support, and global runway they deserve, and we’re committed to supporting this evolution in the years ahead.”
