CAKE will take the lead on distribution efforts for TV Asahi’s iconic Doraemon brand in the U.S., Canada, ANZ, and most of EMEA.
The distribution deal, which excludes Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Turkey in EMEA, will also see CAKE and TV Asahi produce a new English-language version of the anime franchise, which originated in a manga created by FUJIKO F FUJIO in 1970. The TV catalog encompasses more than 1,300 episodes. The show has rolled out in more than 70 markets.
Dominic Gardiner, MD of distribution at CAKE, said, “Doraemon is one of the most iconic franchises in global entertainment, and we are proud to partner with TV Asahi to bring it to new audiences. Together, we see a significant opportunity to build on its remarkable legacy and unlock its full international potential.”
Maiko Sumida, head of animation sales and development at TV Asahi’s international business department, added, “We are delighted to partner with CAKE, whose strong expertise and network in the kids’ and family entertainment space will help expand Doraemon’s global reach and introduce the charm, humor, and heart of the series to new audiences across multiple territories.”
