Producer, puppeteer, ventriloquist, and children’s book author Megan (Piphus) Baptist stars in a new hybrid live-action and animated preschool series for Disney Jr. and Disney+, landing this fall.
Megan and Cupcake Ready for Preschool is an extension of Disney Jr.’s popular Ready for Preschool shorts, delivering bite-size lessons and entertainment for young audiences. The series is produced by Riverstreet Productions in association with Disney Jr. Jason Hopley and Brian Clark, who developed the project, serve as EPs alongside Michael Blum and Tracy Pion, co-founders of Riverstreet.
To introduce the new series, Disney Jr. YouTube has today started rolling out a collection of ten one-minute live-action shorts. The full longer-form shorts, themed around specific learning and play concepts featuring the live-action interactions with Megan and Cupcake wrapped around some of the existing Ready for Preschool shorts, arrive later this year.
Since 2019, the Ready for Preschool shorts have amassed more than 150 million views on Disney Jr.’s YouTube channel.
Baptist, who appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and was a contestant on America’s Got Talent, has played the role of Gabrielle on Sesame Street since 2020. She also has two children’s albums to her credit and her debut children’s book, Brave Like a Lion! How a Puppeteer Found Her Voice, was released by Penguin Random House earlier this year.
