Blue Zoo Animation Studio has appointed Dominic Minns as creative director, with the Brighton Zoo alum set to serve as series director of the upcoming animated Doctor Who for CBeebies.
Minns moves into the role from Brighton Zoo, Blue Zoo’s sister studio, where he was co-founder and creative director.
“Dominic has a brilliant instinct for what makes children’s content resonate with audiences,” said Adam Shaw, co-founder of Blue Zoo. “His track record of blending heart with high-energy storytelling is second to none. We are hugely proud to have his creative vision at Blue Zoo, and specifically on our exciting next project, an animated Doctor Who for CBeebies. We can’t wait to see how he breathes life into this show.”
Minns’ many credits include Mojo Swoptops, Supertato and Tee and Mo.
“Having worked within the Zoo family for several years, joining Blue Zoo as a Creative Director feels like a huge and exciting next step,” he said. “I’m especially thrilled to be working on the CBeebies Doctor Who animation. My goal is to fully utilize the talents of both Blue and Brighton Zoo to capture the epic scale and wonder of the series, while making it delightful, funny, and relatable for preschoolers. It’s an honor to be here.”
