The number of registered visitors at TIFFCOM this year—including buyers, producers, and investors—increased by 13% to 1,425, with international attendees up by 9% to 814.
North America was up by a third, the organizers said, while European attendance increased by 70%. The number of Japanese visitors was also up, rising by 20%. The number of participating countries and regions increased from 46 to 51.
Overall attendance, however, did slip to 4,400, largely due to fewer participants from Greater China. The number of exhibitors was about level, dropping from 322 to 317.
For next year, TIFFCOM has confirmed the return of the Tokyo IP Market in Cannes as the Japan IP Market, co-organized with the Marché du Film. Meanwhile, the Tokyo Gap-Financing Market will expand its eligible genres.
“Whether for financing, networking, or finding partners, we hope TIFFCOM served as a valuable international business platform,” said Kaori Ikeda, MD of TIFFCOM. “Our conferences featured insightful discussions on a wide range of topics—including cross-media and global expansion of IP, storytelling in feature and short formats, and the emerging role of AI in creation—attracting a large number of participants.”
Ikeda added, “We are currently navigating the space where craft and technology intersect. What do the world and the market want to see? What stories do we want to tell from Japan and Asia? How will we weave these new narratives? We look forward to continuing this journey of developing and connecting these stories together with all of you.”
