Sold into more than 80 markets, Beta Film’s Maxima is in production for a third season, with its first feature film extension, Beatrix (w.t.), about the former Queen of the Netherlands, now in the works.
Season three begins shooting in the Netherlands next week, following Maxima as she settles into her role as Queen of the Netherlands during the first years of her reign alongside King Willem-Alexander.
A spinoff, The Other Royals—A Maxima Story, releasing before season three and the feature film, is currently in post-production for a 2027 launch. Produced by Millstreet Films in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, the five-part series focuses on Mabel Wisse Smit and Margarita de Bourbon de Parme.
Maxima was commissioned by RTL for Videoland in the Netherlands from Millstreet Films, in co-production with FBO and Beta Film, with the support of the Dutch Film Fund Production Incentive, the Creative Europe MEDIA program, the Belgian Tax Shelter and the Incentive Measure Den Haag/Rotterdam.
