Beta Film has landed a slate of deals on Rex—Vienna Calling, an updated take on Rex—A Cop’s Best Friend, with filming underway on a second season.
Produced by MR Film in co-production with SAT.1 and ORF, season one reached almost 1.6 million viewers in Germany and some 884,000 in Austria.
Supported by FISAplus, the Austrian Television Fund and the state of Lower Austria, the series has landed placements with SBS in Australia, Rai in Italy, TV 2 in Denmark, Alpha TV in Greece, HRT in Croatia, Planet TV in Slovenia, STVR in Slovakia, Nova in Bulgaria, and TVR in Romania. It is also headed to the Baltic states with Duo Media Networks in Estonia, SIA Tet in Latvia, and LNK in Lithuania. Action Channel in Japan and SHANT TV in Armenia are also on board.
Season two will consist of six new feature-length episodes.
