Australian streaming platform BINGE is bringing its acclaimed original crime drama High Country, distributed worldwide by Sony Pictures Television, back for a second season next month.
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television’s Curio Pictures for Foxtel Group, with major production investment from Screen Australia and Foxtel Group in association with VicScreen and ABC.
High Country: What Lies Beneath sees the return of Leah Purcell, who is joined by new cast Brendan Cowell, Ryan Corr, and Nadine Garner. Ian McElhinney, Sara Wiseman, and Aaron Pedersen are also set to return for the eight-episode second season.
Season one was a hit for BINGE and sold to BBC One in the U.K and Hulu in the U.S.
Daniel Monaghan, executive director for entertainment at Foxtel Group, noted, “Season one proved the immense global and local appeal of bold, uniquely Australian stories. We’re thrilled to bring audiences back to Victoria’s High Country alongside the captivating Leah Purcell as we build on that momentum, push the mystery further, and raise the bar for an incredible second season.”
Curio Pictures EPs Jo Porter and Rachel Gradner added: “This exciting new season is a must-watch, with Leah delivering a brilliant performance alongside a stellar cast and world-class creative team. High Country: What Lies Beneath takes viewers on a thrilling new journey filled with twists, turns and unexpected discoveries.”
