The Testaments, the follow-up to The Handmaid’s Tale, based on the Margaret Atwood novel of the same name, is set for a world premiere at Series Mania.
Showrunner Bruce Miller and members of the creative team will be in Lille for the opening night premiere.
Series Mania unveiled some of its highlights at a press conference today, noting this year’s selection “signals a shift toward sharper editorial positioning and high-impact storytelling,” amid a landscape marked by fewer productions, shorter formats, and limited episode counts.
Themes present across the selection include political instability, increased cross-border collaboration and Europe becoming a key production hub for the global streamers. The U.K. has two series in the International Competition and three in the International Panorama Competition. Flemish Belgium has two series in the International Panorama Competition, as does Poland.
Meanwhile, Series Mania Forum will convene 5,000-plus execs from 75 countries for keynotes, panels, pitching sessions and residencies. South Korea is the event’s first country of honor.
