Link Click, an animated series that streamed on China’s bilibili in 2021, is getting a live-action adaptation that will air on Tokai Television in Japan, followed by rollout on Fuji TV’s FOD service and on TVer.
The three-way collaboration is set to premiere in April in Tokai Television’s Saturday drama slot. The deal follows Fuji TV and bilibili’s 2023 strategic partnership to collaborate and capitalize on their IP slates. An animation project based on Fuji TV IP is currently in development at bilibili and this summer sees the launch of the first jointly developed TV anime between the two companies, Tomb Raider King.
Link Click reached 850 million views in China and was broadcast by Fuji TV in Japan in its B8station block for Japanese-dubbed versions of popular anime from bilibili.
Shintaro Tanaka, head of global business development at Fuji TV, commented: “This project is an extremely important element of Fuji TV’s future global strategy as we aim for further growth, and it is a groundbreaking initiative as the first internationally co-produced terrestrial nationwide drama. Through the fusion of creativity that transcends national borders, we will strive to deliver a work that excites audiences around the world, while also opening up new possibilities from a business perspective.”
