AVOD platforms outpaced SVOD services in catalog growth in 2025, Ampere Analysis indicates, led by Tubi in the U.K.
Of the top ten platforms with the fastest catalog growth globally, six were AVOD services, led by Tubi UK (a 99% increase), Rakuten TV Ireland (43%) and Pluto TV Canada (27%). Global VOD catalog growth across free and paid averaged just 5% last year.
Tubi has quickly become the second-largest VOD offering in the U.K., just behind Prime Video. BVOD services across Europe are also expanding rapidly, notably TF1 in France (77% growth) ad RTVE Play in Spain (37%).
Meanwhile, on the SVOD side, Apple TV led growth at 15%, spurred by originals, albeit from a smaller base. Prime Video and Paramount+ expanded by 12% each, with Disney+ at 8% and Netflix at just 4%.
Ampere expects sustained AVOD catalog growth in mature markets like the U.S., U.K., France, and Türkiye. SVOD growth is coming via alliances with local broadcasters and a greater focus on local content, particularly for Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+.
