Ampere: Global Subscription Streaming Revenues Top $150 Billion

Ampere Analysis has found that global streaming subscription revenues topped the $150 billion mark for the first time last year, with platforms focusing on monetization through price increases and ad tiers as subscription numbers stabilize.

Subscription streaming revenues were up by 15% in 2025 to hit $157.1 billion; that number has tripled in just five years since topping the $50 billion mark in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. International expansion, rate hikes, and the introduction of ad tiers all drove those gains.

Ampere expects subscription streaming revenues to top $200 billion by 2030, an increase of almost 30%. The U.S. will remain the biggest contributor at 50% of revenues. By platform, meanwhile, Netflix is on top in the U.S., with its revenues up 14% last year.

Growth in mature markets in North America and Western Europe will come from ad tiers, which represented 28% of revenues in 2025, up from 5% in 2020.

Including advertising revenue, streaming services generated $177 billion around the world last year. Ad tiers are expected to add  $42 billion in annual revenue by 2030.

Lauren Liversedge, senior analyst at Ampere Analysis, noted, “As the streaming market matures, the emphasis is no longer on pure subscriber growth but on extracting greater value from existing audiences. Price optimization and the rise of ad-supported tiers are driving revenue growth, particularly in the most competitive markets.”
