Banijay Americas’ Endemol Shine Brasil and A Fábrica labels are set to collaborate on a slate of microdramas.
Endemol Shine Brasil will lead productions and negotiations with brands and platforms for the vertical format shows, with A Fábrica spearheading creative development and screenwriting. The pact follows Endemol Shine Brasil wrapping an 89-episode vertical drama, now in post, and receiving two further greenlights for a total of 147 episodes. It is also developing two productions for Globoplay in partnership with A Fábrica.
Nani Freitas, CEO of Endemol Shine Brasil, said, “Microdramas are a clear market trend, and we are proud to be among the first Brazilian production companies to invest at scale. As audiences embrace highly bingeable short-form stories, we remain focused on expanding our vertical soap slate with the quality that defines Endemol Shine Brasil. Our partnership with A Fábrica enhances the creative depth and allows us to broaden our exploration of the format.”
Luiz Noronha, executive director at A Fábrica, added, “The rise of vertical storytelling reflects a major shift in how audiences consume content. It demands its own creative language and narrative logic, and by bringing together our scripted expertise with Endemol Shine Brasil’s market acumen, we can integrate microdramas into our broader creative strategy.”
Endemol Shine Brasil has been in the vertical business for a while; between 2023 and 2024, it produced ten-plus microdramas in partnership with Kwai. It also has a partnership with Meta to produce vertical soaps developed specifically for brands like Comfort. A Fábrica, meanwhile, is moving into the short-form sector after a decade of producing feature films and sitcoms.
