Short-Form Comedy Commissions for BBC Scotland

Expanding its digital strategy, BBC Scotland has commissioned four new short-form comedies that will be available on BBC iPlayer, YouTube, and other social platforms.

New to the slate are three series from Banijay UK’s The Comedy Unit—Marc JenningsGenuine Question—Why Vote?, The Chief Grills and MyAmi Nails—and Reality Bunker, produced by North Bridge Media.

BBC Scotland’s digital-first scripted lineup already includes dramas such as Float and Dog Days and the comedy strand Short Stuff.

Louise Thornton, BBC Scotland’s head of commissioning, said, “These projects reflect our ambition to create bold, original Scottish content that works brilliantly on BBC iPlayer and beyond. They speak directly to how audiences are watching today.”

Gavin Smith, commissioning editor for scripted, announced the appointment of Deb Charles as assistant commissioner, scripted, as the pubcaster builds out its digital-first lineup.
