Rather, Frank Marshall’s critically acclaimed documentary about the veteran journalist, is now available to stream for free on YouTube in celebration of Free Speech Week.
From Dan Rather, Wavelength, Fremantle’s Original Productions, and Anchor Entertainment, the doc launched on YouTube yesterday. It explores key moments in history through Rather’s unique lens and shines a light on the challenges journalists face.
“At a time when independent journalism faces significant challenges, this free release aims to spark conversation about freedom of speech, journalistic integrity, and the importance of a free press,” the statement about the YouTube launch said. “Rather and the film’s production teams are leveraging this powerful moment to shine a spotlight on the work currently being done to protect the freedom of the press, including the work of organizations Rather has long supported in their efforts to safeguard the First Amendment, including the ACLU.”
The 95-minute film is produced by Marshall, Jenifer Westphal, Joe Plummer, Jeff Hasler, Ethan Goldman and Aly Parker, with Westphal, Wayne Nelson, Jessica Sherif, One9 and Ryan Suffern as EPs. Rather and family members are featured in the film, along with Ronan Farrow, Mark Cuban, Andy Cohen, Samantha Bee, Soledad O’Brien, Shepard Smith, Sir Howard Stringer, and others.
