Bright Entertainment has been formally unveiled as ITV Studios’ new entertainment format label with Lily Wilson, launching with a commission for The Chase Around the World.
From the creators of ITV’s The Chase, The Chase Around the World, hosted by Bradley Walsh, will, as the name suggests, take contestants on a global adventure competition. Across six episodes of the ITV commission, six pairs of contestants attempt to track down all six of The Chasers. ITV Studios will handle international distribution after having brought local versions of the long-running The Chase to 22 territories worldwide, including the U.S.
Wilson, managing director of Bright Entertainment, noted: “What better way to launch Bright Entertainment—not only with the news of our inaugural commission, but a reimagining of one of the most successful television quiz formats. The Chase Around the World is a fittingly global evolution for an iconic format, developed and being produced by a great team. We look forward to launching the series later this year and it being the first of many more exciting formats to come.”
Walsh said: “This bold new take on The Chase combines quizzing with travelling and will test contestants’ knowledge like never before. The Chasers are already famous around the world, so fans can look forward to seeing them ply their trade in some superb secret locations.”
Bright Entertainment also includes creative director Tom Williams as well as the Potato team that has transitioned over: creative directors Martin Scott and Phil Mount, production head Christina Clayton, and Ian Gill, newly promoted to director of development. The label encompasses Potato’s and 12 Yard’s catalogs.
