Human Forever Doc Lands Deals for SUPER7EVEN Production

Human Forever, a social impact doc about dementia from Dutch indie SUPER7EVEN Productions, has been picked up by PBS in the U.S., SBS in Australia, and RÚV in Iceland.

The film has already been released theatrically in more than 30 markets and has been licensed to Arte in France, ZDF in Germany, VRT in Belgium, and Videoland in the Netherlands. It charts humanitarian activist Teun Toebes’s three-year journey across four continents and 11 countries to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia. It is directed and produced by Jonathan de Jong. De Jong and Toebes are releasing a new book, Human Forever: Searching the World for a Better Life with Dementia this week.

De Jong, founder of SUPER7EVEN Productions, commented, “It is so encouraging to see our film being appreciated, discussed, and sought after by three major international broadcasting companies in different continents. We are thrilled that PBS, SBS and RÚV have recognized the potential in this story, and its vital messages will be able to reach more people in the States, the Nordics and Australia. The film is rooted in our journey across different countries, and the questions it asks about aging, dementia and the role of community are universal. These new acquisitions reinforce that broadcasters are looking for stories that don’t simply highlight the challenges, but also explore practical, hopeful approaches to improving quality of life. It is a testament to the power of independent documentary production and the backbone of our work at SUPER7EVEN and SuperIndie.”

Erna Kettler, head of acquisitions at RÚV, added, “Human Forever reminds us that caring for people living with dementia is a shared responsibility, and that there is much we can learn from one another. By bringing together perspectives from different communities and circumstances, the film highlights how we can continue to improve the way we care for people with dementia, regardless of borders, culture, and status. It handles this sensitive subject with remarkable care and dignity, while inspiring us to think differently and, more importantly, to act.”
