A new industry-backed initiative from the World Congress of Science & Factual Producers (WCSFP) aims to support the development of documentary filmmaking talent.
Partners in Production launches with an array of founding members, including Cricket Hill Media, Lion TV, Lone Wolf Media, Mentor My Film, HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, and Wall to Wall. The new program supports mentorship, professional development, networking, and partnership-building opportunities.
Another key element of Partners in Production is the Global Career Accelerator, which will bring together creators from Austria, China, Colombia, Estonia, India, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and the U.S. The selected participants are: Andrés Salazar, Chen Yi, Erin Winick Anthony, India Rose Klap, Jamie Jumaquio, Joosep Matjus, Katri Rannastu, Krista Jutt, Mal Uher, Marija Stonyte, Stephanie Castillo, and Raghunath ‘Rana’ Belur. The talent will be able to attend this year’s summit and receive one-to-one mentorship. Tier 1 participants also receive travel and accommodation support.
“International events like WCSFP create relationships that can have a real impact on careers, especially for emerging talent,” said Adam Kirkham, director of partnerships at WCSFP. “Partners in Production gives established companies within our community a practical way to help open that door and bring new voices into the international factual community.”
Beth Hoppe, co-chair of WCSFP’s strategic partnerships committee,” added. ““We hope other companies across the factual community will consider joining them this year and help us broaden access to WCSFP for people who might otherwise not have the opportunity to be there.”
