MasterChef Asia, the pan-regional version of the hit Banijay Entertainment format, is returning this year after a ten-year hiatus.
Warner Bros. Discovery and Endemol Shine India’s CreAsia Studio are making ten new episodes in Macao featuring former MasterChef contestants. The series will air on TLC, Discovery, and the Asian Food Network across India, Southeast Asia, Greater China, and Korea; as well as on Lala TV in Japan and the Fatafeat channel in the Middle East. It is being produced in partnership with the Macao Government Tourism Office.
Rashmi Bajpai, EVP for Asia at Banijay Rights, noted, “The return of MasterChef Asia marks a significant milestone for this iconic global format and the Asian television market. We are proud to partner with Warner Bros. Discovery to deliver an exciting new series that reflects Asia’s extraordinary culinary creativity.”
Lynn Ng, GVP and head of content for APAC networks at Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “Asia is a melting pot of gastronomy and we’re looking forward to working with Banijay Rights and our partners to bring a new offering of this global hit format to fans across the region. Expect surprising creations, high drama and intense competition – everything that is synonymous with a MasterChef kitchen—but with a distinct Asian flavour that celebrates the region’s unique cuisines.”
Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, director at the Macao Government Tourism Office, said the show is “a great example of how our ‘Tourism+’ strategy is bringing together culture, creativity, and international collaboration to support Macao’s journey toward a more diversified and vibrant tourism economy.”
Deepak Dhar, founder and group CEO of Banijay Asia and EndemolShine India, commented, “The return of MasterChef Asia reflects the region’s expanding creative strength and scale. Bringing the series to life in Macao, a city celebrated for its culinary heritage, marks an exciting new chapter for the brand, which continues to serve as a powerful platform for showcasing world-class culinary talent.”
