Banijay Italia is making a local version of All3Media International’s The Unknown for Rai 2.
The Unknown—To The Very Last Crossroads, based on the IDTV-originated format, is being made in partnership with the Regione Calabria and the Calabria Film Commission and is set for a prime-time spot.
Francesco Lauber, chief creative officer of Banijay Italia, said, “We’re always looking for formats that let us push creative boundaries, and The Unknown—To The Very Last Crossroads gives us the foundation to do exactly that. By combining emotional storytelling with unpredictable gameplay, we are bringing our ability to build tension, reality, and intimacy at scale, to keep audiences fully immersed throughout.”
Kevin Soares, EVP for international formats at IDTV, added: “The Unknown is a format that plays with tension, trust, and human behavior in a way that feels both entertaining and revealing. IDTV is delighted to see it travel to Italy with Banijay Italia and Rai 2, through a deal with All3Media International, once again demonstrating the strength of the format. We’re excited to see how this new version brings its own energy while staying true to the core idea of continuously choosing between the known and the unknown.”
