TVF International has landed a slate of new deals in Iberia, including licensing Like a Shot Entertainment’s Escape from Chernobyl: 48 Hours That Changed the World to Movistar Plus+ ahead of the 40th anniversary of the disaster in April.
The Spanish platform also opted for history titles from the distributor, including 1979: Year of the Islamist Revolution, ZDF/Arte’s Free at Last: Secrets of Apartheid, How the Second World War Became a Global War from Odyssey Television, and Theodor Herzl: The Man Behind Israel. From TVF’s science slate, it selected the CBC commissions The Ozempic Effect: Beyond the Waistline and Fluid: Life Beyond the Binary. The package also includes France TV’s Ulysses: From Myth to Science.
Like a Shot Entertainment’s WWII doc 24 Hours That Changed the World, commissioned by Channel 4 and SBS, has sold to to DMAX Spain. AMC Networks International Southern Europe, meanwhile, chose titles from TVF’s travel catalog, including Great British Train Journeys from Above and Europe by Train, as well as a true crime slate, acquiring The Bowraville Murders and The Trials of Kyle Rittenhouse.
Catalan channel TV3 will air Walk the Line: Escaping From China to the USA and My Dad the Sex Tourist.
TVI/CNN acquired Arming the Arctic and Mediacorp’s Silent Soldiers: Russia’s Foreign Mercenaries.
TVF also closed a deal with pubcaster RTVE, licensing the Tokyovision co-production Japan’s Wild Side. The company’s wildlife slate also found traction in Portugal, with China’s Wild Secrets headed to RTP alongside Traps & Ambushes and The Resurrection Quest. The Portuguese pubcaster also opted for How to Poison a Planet, Addicted: Inside the Global Drugs Trade, My AI Relationship, and Wombless: India’s Hysterectomy Crisis.
The deals were brokered by Ben Nohr, recently elevated to regional sales manager for Western Europe and MENA, who noted, “From major anniversary pre-sale titles to blue-chip wildlife co-productions and urgent current affairs, TVF’s diverse slate continues to resonate across Iberia. It has been a great pleasure to continue our valued partnerships and expand our presence in the region as a ‘go-to’ distributor for premium factual content.”
