The CBeebies series Monster Makes, produced by Terrific Television, has been acquired by ABC in Australia through a deal with 8 Lions Entertainment.
The Australian public broadcaster is on board for linear free-to-air and free VOD rights to the preschool show for ABC Kids and ABC iview. The deal also encompasses a library of Australia-themed compilations of the digital-first slate for the official Monster Makes YouTube channel, which 8 Lions launched and manages.
“Monster Makes extends the experience beyond the screen through creative activities, inviting preschoolers to make, create and play,” said Maria-Nicole Miriklis, acquisitions manager at the ABC.
Jiella Esmat, CEO of 8 Lions Entertainment, said the deal demonstrates “what’s possible when digital and broadcast coexist in a single strategy, and data influences the production pipeline.”
