The BBC has picked up two seasons of the live-action kids’ series Armorsaurs, produced by MGA Entertainment (MGA), from CAKE for CBBC and iPlayer.
The kids 6-plus and co-viewing series is a remake of the South Korean show Armored Saurus, originally developed by Daewon Media. CAKE is the distributor of the show outside of South Korea, Japan, and China, where Daewon Media handles media and consumer product distribution rights.
The series is set for expansion this year as the brand rolls out toys, digital content, lifestyle products, and games.
“Armorsaurs is an ambitious, high-impact series that combines cinematic live-action storytelling with cutting-edge VFX and a powerful sense of adventure,” said Dominic Gardiner, managing director of distribution at CAKE. “The BBC is a natural home for the show, with its long-standing commitment to premium, imaginative content for kids and families, and we’re thrilled to be introducing Armorsaurs to U.K. audiences. This launch marks an important step in building the franchise as a multiplatform global brand.”
Sarah Muller, senior head of commissioning for 7-plus at BBC Children’s and Education, noted, “Armorsaurs is a bold and imaginative series that brings together thrilling storytelling and cutting-edge visual effects. Partnering with CAKE and MGA allows us to bring this exciting new adventure to CBBC and iPlayer, giving children and families an unforgettable experience to enjoy together.”
