Japan, Singapore Lead AACA Wins

Japan and Singapore each took home six awards at last night’s Asian Academy Creative Awards, while China’s four wins included best feature and best drama.

In total, 11 different AsiaPac markets landed regional wins last night over 40 categories. Japan and Singapore each took home six awards, while Korea and India secured five each. Mainland China and Hong Kong each won four. Taiwan had three wins, while Australia, Malaysia, and the Philippines each had two.

Korea’s Super Guardians: Polar Rescue took home the win for best children’s program, while Japan’s My Melody & Kuromi was awarded for best animation.

Australia’s Unbreakable: The Jelena Dokic Story won for best documentary one-off. Fuji Television in Japan landed a win for best news program with Cracking the Case: New Testimonies and Evidence in the Setagaya Family Murder. Japan also triumphed in the best history doc category with NHK’s Hiroshima’s Tower of Life and in lifestyle with Tokyo by Night. Addicted—The Synthetic Curse, from Singapore, topped in the best doc series categories,

The Indian adaptation of The Traitors was named best adaptation of a non-scripted format. Malaysia’s Astro took home the best game or quiz  for SME S.W.A.T. Best non-scripted entertainment was presented to Australia’s Muster Dogs series three.

Best adaptation of a scripted format went to the Philippines for Saving Grace. Korea landed best comedy with CJ ENM’s Head Over Heels on Prime Video.

Performance nods went to Malaysia’s Hisyam Hamid for Memori, Jinny Ng in Battle Of Marriage, Ivory Chia in Emerald Hill—The Little Nyonya Story, Dennis Trillo in Green Bones and Yuriyan Retriever in The Queen of Villains. The final award of the night, best drama, was presented to the Chinese series Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty: To The West on iQIYI.
