BBC Four and iPlayer are set to roll out a slate of classic film adaptations of Henrik Ibsen’s plays, marking 120 years since his passing.
Every Sunday through the end of March, the channel and the streaming platform will feature an adaptation of an Ibsen play made by the BBC over the last four decades. The initiative will bring a total of 13 adaptations to audiences, including a 1953 adaptation of The Lady from the Sea and A Doll’s House from 1992. Most have not been seen on the BBC since their original broadcasts.
iPlayer is also featuring docu-dramas Summer in Gossensass (from 1964) and Certainties and Doubts (from 1979).
