Globo has inked what it is calling a “historic” alliance with América Multimedia and Del Barrio Producciones to adapt some of its Brazilian telenovelas in Peru.
Globo has licensed three Brazilian novelas for adaptation in Peru, beginning with Her Own Destiny, with the local version launching next month on América TV.
“The agreement with América Multimedia and Del Barrio Producciones reinforces the potential of Globo’s stories to resonate across different cultures while maintaining the strength of their plots and characters in local adaptations,” said Pablo Ghiglione, head of sales for the Americas and APAC and international co-productions at Globo. “It also consolidates the Peruvian market’s interest in the great narratives of Brazilian teledramaturgy. We are very happy with this alliance and excited to see such iconic characters and stories like Her Own Destiny come to life again.”
Jorge Grippa, content manager at América Multimedia, added, “This alliance allows us to continue consolidating América as one of the most important players in the Latin American audiovisual industry. We are betting on stories that connect with the audience and large-scale productions. We have full confidence in the experience and creative capacity of Del Barrio Producciones to lead this challenge, as well as the talent of our teams to bring these stories to the Peruvian public.”
Michelle Alexander, CEO of Del Barrio Producciones, noted, “For Del Barrio Producciones, it is a huge honor and a great responsibility to begin this alliance with Globo and América Multimedia adapting Her Own Destiny. Our commitment is to create a Peruvian version with the same level of emotion, dramatic power, and quality that turned this telenovela into a milestone. It is also an opportunity to prove that the Peruvian audiovisual industry has the talent and capacity to produce large-scale fiction for a mass audience.”
