Production has begun on a South Korean version of the FX series The Americans for Disney+ internationally and Hulu in the U.S.
The Koreans is set in the early 1990s, following what seems like a traditional middle class family; both parents are North Korean spies.
Lee Byunghun (Squid Game) and Han Jimin (Heavenly Ever After) lead the cast, with Ahn Gilho directing. It was adapted by Park Eunkyo (Made In Korea, Mother) from FX’s The Americans. It is produced by IMAGINUS and Studio AA.
This is the latest in a growing slate of originals at Disney+ in AsiaPac alongside Tempest, Made in Korea, and The Tyrant.
