A broad selection of drama series from Japanese pubcaster NHK will be made available on Netflix in Japan and around the world beginning next month.
The first wave brings a selection of Taiga dramas (historical pieces), morning serials, and Drama 10 series (focused on social issues), with additional titles rolling out through early 2027. The first batch includes Strategist KANBE, Mampuku, Descending Stories: A Life in Rakugo, The Science Club, and Tokyo Salad Bowl. Twenty NHK drama titles are scheduled to stream on Netflix over the course of the year.
Netflix said the NHK deal “marks a significant expansion” in its commitment to work with local broadcasters. “By bringing works nurtured by Japan’s broadcasters over many years to viewers in more than 190 countries and regions, Netflix will continue to champion Japan’s outstanding entertainment culture on the world stage.”
