AI-Enabled Production Studio Gengis AI Launches in Singapore

Refinery Media co-founders Karen Seah and Tan Sian Ju and virtual production specialist Joel Lim have joined forces to launch Gengis AI, which is being touted as Singapore’s first production-ready AI-enabled studio.

The outfit designs and operates AI-assisted workflows that integrate across development, scripting, on-set virtual production, and postproduction. Its core focuses are AI-driven VFX generation for the rapid creation and enhancement of digital assets and intelligent virtual set extensions. It has access to X3D Studio, a virtual production powerhouse in Singapore. It will work across branded content and commercials, streaming and digital-first shows, feature films and episodic TV, and virtual production workflows.

“AI promises transformation for media, yet most teams struggle to deploy it safely and effectively on set,” said Lim, co-founder and CEO. “As working filmmakers, we prioritize what actually ships. Gengis AI workflows help productions iterate faster, take bolder creative risks and scale ambition, all while keeping human creators at the centre.”

The venture is collaborating with Refinery Media on digital-first microdramas and short-form projects, including a vertical reimagining of the SupermodelMe IP.

“As a production company, we want to reformat our IP quickly for new platforms, but we can’t keep hiring more people, and we don’t have unlimited budgets,” added Seah, co-Founder of Refinery Media and Gengis AI. “An AI-enabled workflow lets us move faster and do more with what we have.”
