Announcing a slate of ten English-language vertical short-form series, Singapore’s Refinery Media is making a “full pivot” into the format.
Five of the ten titles are headed to COL Group’s FlareFlow platform and feature Shopee and Nippon Paint as brand partners. The slate includes seven microdramas and three reality shows, all natively produced in the 9:16 format. The titles will start premiering in Q2, including SupermodelMe: Make It or Break It, a vertical reboot of Refinery’s popular modeling competition format. There are three additional Singapore-produced titles—No-Volley Zone, My Best Friend, My Brother, My Rival and The Housemaid Wife—headed to FlareFlow, with remaining titles to be unveiled ahead of the Q2 launch window.
“We’re not treating brand integration as an add-on,” said Karen Seah, founder and CEO of Refinery Media. “Our approach embeds brand narratives into story architecture from day one, so the integration becomes indistinguishable from the content itself. That’s what we’re bringing to vertical.”
The production company is also touting a new take on casting, leveraging relationships with regional influencers and talent, including with Basic Models, and is leaning into AI production tools to produce faster and at a lower cost.
