COL Group has joined forces with Lingopie to launch DramaRizz, which uses vertical short-form drama for language learning.
DramaRizz will incorporate language learning directly into the microdrama viewing experience. Its 1-minute episodes will have subtitles in the viewer’s chosen language as well as the one they wish to learn, along with adjustable playback speeds. Tapping a word provides an instant translation, and users can save words as flashcards with the original scene for context. At launch, it supports English, Spanish, Chinese, French, German, and Italian, with additional languages expected to follow. There will be about 30 titles per language, including FlareFlow properties such as Daddy, Save Me, Billionaire Daddy, the Hunt is On! and Never Too Late to Love You.
Timothy Oh, GM of COL Group International and CMO of FlareFlow, said, “What makes this collaboration so interesting to us is that it takes microdramas beyond entertainment and applies the format to a completely different behavior: learning a language. The very things that make microdramas compelling, from short episodes and strong hooks to characters audiences want to keep following, can also encourage people to spend more time listening to and engaging with another language. We see enormous potential in exploring where vertical storytelling can go next, and our partnership with Lingopie gives us the opportunity to do that both through FlareFlow’s existing content and through 10 new titles that we will develop together.”
The deal also sees COL Group entering into a co-pro pact with Lingopie Studios for ten original microdramas, leveraging Lingopie’s AI-native production house to take series from concept to finished episodes within weeks.
David Datny, CEO of Lingopie, noted, “We’re excited to partner with COL Group as we launch DramaRizz, the world’s first vertical micro-drama app for language learners, and help shape the future of language learning through micro-dramas. We are also grateful and excited that COL Group has chosen to work with our AI-first production studio to co-produce original micro-dramas. We’re just getting started, and we can’t wait to create original stories that people love to watch and that just happen to help them learn a new language along the way.”
