Wattpad is working with ReelShort to adapt three of its popular webnovels into microdramas.
The deal kicked off with the live-action short-form take on Emily Jean’s Wattpad hit Just One Kiss, which premiered on ReelShort last month and has logged over 30 million views. Next up is Worth the Chase, written by FLEURNJARDIN, launching later this month, followed by Annica Dahl’s Taming the Playboy Boss, which will premiere in early 2027.
“Wattpad’s community has always thrived on storytelling that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from chapter to chapter,” said David J. Lee, president of Wattpad. “Partnering with ReelShort allows us to bring the stories our community loves to life in a dynamic, mobile-first visual format, giving our authors an exciting new avenue to build their fandoms and reach audiences beyond the page.”
“ReelShort’s mission has always been to create a bigger market for great stories,” said Joey Jia, CEO of ReelShort. “Wattpad has built an incredible community of writers and readers and has a strong track record of discovering stories that audiences connect with. Working together gives us the opportunity to bring those stories to life in a new format and introduce them to our growing global audience. Partnerships like this allow us to expand opportunities for storytellers while continuing to grow what’s possible in the mobile-first format.”
