All3Media International is seeing strong traction in tape sales for its various iterations of The Traitors, licensing the Indian version, made for Prime Video, to BBC iPlayer.
The distributor has logged 1,700 hours of tape sales. The latest deal for the Indian version brings it to U.K. audiences on iPlayer, alongside the Irish, American, New Zealand, and Australian versions, plus the BBC’s own editions. The ten-part first season of The Traitors India featured a celeb cast and is hosted by Karan Johar. Season two is in production.
Previous tale sales include Crave in Canada licensing 11 versions. Alongside its own take, it features editions from New Zealand, France, Australia, the U.S., the Netherlands, India, Hungary, Ireland, French Canada, and the U.K. (regular and celebrity versions).
In Australia, Network 10 has the U.K., Indian, New Zealand and American versions. RTL Netherlands, original broadcaster of The Traitors, has licensed versions from Flemish Belgium, the U.K., the U.S., and Australia.
The format has been adapted in 40 markets.
Maartje Horchner, EVP of content at All3Media International, commented, “Packed with all The Traitors’ trademark drama, intrigue, and deception, Prime Video’s version has been an incredible success in India, where a second season is currently in production, and we can’t wait to see it debut in the U.K. We’re proud to be the home of so many hit versions of this much-loved franchise. As well as watching their own territory’s local series, there is huge interest from fans in seeing multiple versions of the show, enabling them to dive into all the gripping twists and turns the game delivers from around the world.”
