True crime, contemporary history, terrorism, and the role of mythology in popular culture feature among a new batch of commissions from indie production companies at BBC Scotland.
Terror at the Terminal is a two-parter about the 2007 Glasgow Airport attack from Firecrest Films. Tommy Sheridan: Caught in the Headlines (w.t.), also a two-parter, hails from Finestripe Productions and features access to the controversial Scottish political figure. Murder Case returns with four new episodes from Firecrest Films. Rogan Productions’ six-part series Mythland explores the enduring power of myths and legends with paranormal psychologist Evelyn Hollow and comedian Zara Gladman.
“This new slate reflects our commitment to bringing audiences a range of genres and perspectives and demonstrates the remarkable breadth of factual storytelling being made in Scotland today,” said Louise Thornton, head of commissioning at BBC Scotland. “The independent production sector in Scotland continues to deliver world-class programs with creativity, expertise and a deep understanding of the stories that matter here and beyond. We’re proud to work with such a talented production community to bring such compelling content to audiences.”
