The Fremantle-distributed Billy Idol Should Be Dead has shored up a raft of deals around the world, including with SBS in Australia and SVT Sweden, as well as landing a theatrical deal in Japan.
VRT (Belgium), Yle (Finland), NRK (Norway), COSMOTE TV (Greece), AMC Global Media (Spain & Portugal), and RTV (Slovenia) have also acquired the feature-length doc, which premiered on Sky Arts in the U.K. and Hulu in the U.S. in March. The film about the veteran artist, a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 inductee, is produced by Live Nation Studios. Fremantle handles sales outside the U.S.
Kyle Harris, VP of acquisitions at Fremantle, said: “It’s fantastic to see such a strong international appetite for this film, and we believe its raw honesty, emotional depth, and electrifying energy will resonate widely. It’s a testament to an artist who continues to defy expectations—a film made possible by the remarkable access and Billy’s willingness to share his story with such openness.”
