Hitler’s Games: Berlin 1936 in Color and The Space Race in Color from Woodcut Media have been presold to Channel 4.
Delivering historical analysis and colorized archive footage, the two docs are currently in production and follow on from the success of Woodcut’s Titanic in Color, The Race for Ancient Egypt in Color, Britain’s Railway Empire in Color, and The Manhattan Project in Color. Jonathan Mayo produces with Kate Beal as EP. Tom Adams is on board as EP on the two-part The Space Race in Color.
“Whether capturing the technological feats of the Space Race or the political theatre of the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, the colorization of the archive reveals these defining moments as living, human stories rather than distant historical events,” Mayo said.
Koulla Anastasi, MD of Woodcut International, added, “Our franchise is going from strength to strength. We feel the colorization, unique access, and techniques employed to tell these stories speak to powerful historical accounts with contemporary relevance and global appeal.”
