ZDF Studios has landed the global distribution rights, outside of Canada, to Fast Cat Films’ wildlife doc Cheetah Fast & Wild, produced for CBC.
Made with the support of Canada Media Fund, the doc explores captive-reared cheetahs being trained to become wild hunters and reintroduced into natural ecosystems in a “wilding” program devised by Ashia Cheetah Conservation in South Africa. The team at Fast Cat Films was given special access to follow cheetah sisters Lilly and Iris, raised in captivity. They also chart three wild cubs learning to hunt by following their mother in the Sanbona Wildlife Reserve.
Nikolas Hülbusch, Director Unscripted at ZDF Studios, noted, “Cheetah Fast & Wild is a powerful example of how innovative conservation can drive real change. We are delighted to bring this inspiring and visually stunning documentary to international audiences.”
Joe Kennedy, director and cinematographer at Fast Cat Films, added, “This film tells a story many believed was impossible. Watching these cheetahs learn to survive in the wild is deeply moving and offers real hope for the future of the species.”
