Love Monday TV’s new documentary featuring previously unheard audio recordings of Princess Diana is being launched to the international market at MIPCOM by Cineflix Rights.
Diana Unheard is a three-part series being co-produced for partners in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, marking the 30th anniversary of Diana, Princess of Wales’ death. In the previously unheard recordings, she discusses her childhood, marriage, and her hopes for her children. The doc also shares Diana’s plans to have the tapes smuggled out of Kensington Palace and features interviews with those who knew her best.
Richard Life, SVP of acquisitions and co-productions at Cineflix Rights, stated, “Princess Diana has been the subject of numerous documentaries over the years, but what really sets Diana Unheard apart is the unique opportunity to hear several hours of intimate recordings of the Princess—her own story in her own voice at a pivotal point in her life. Thirty years on, Diana remains a global icon and source of endless fascination for viewers. We are thrilled to be representing this premium limited series from Love Monday TV, and look forward to launching it to our international buyers at MIPCOM.”
Kerene Barefield, creative director at Love Monday TV, added, “In making Diana Unheard, we wanted to challenge the narrative that has too often portrayed Diana, Princess of Wales, simply as a victim of her circumstances. At the heart of the series are hours of intimate recordings that allow Diana to reclaim her own story, in her own words. With exclusive access to the complete collection of these extraordinary tapes, we hear Diana’s voice with a candor and intimacy that has rarely been heard before. This is Diana not as a passive victim of events, but as a woman taking control of her own narrative and risking everything to make her voice heard. Diana Unheard restores authorship of one of the most scrutinized lives in modern history to the woman at its center. I’m delighted to be partnering with Cineflix Rights to bring this extraordinary story to audiences around the world.”
