Keshet International has secured two new commissions on the studio-based game show The Search in Spain, including a kids’ spinoff.
Following the success of Sopa de Letras on Aragón TV and Canal Sur, Globomedia has secured a commission for a new version for Telemadrid. It is also making a kids’ spinoff, Sopa de Letras Zagales, for Aragón TV. These are the fifth and sixth international adaptations of the format, created by Youngest Media and Keshet International for Keshet 12,.
Kelly Wright, KI’s MD of distribution, commented, “Powered by Globomedia, the momentum behind The Search in Spain and beyond is undeniable. With a brilliantly simple concept at its core, the format’s strength lies in its adaptability, as demonstrated by the multiple versions of Sopa de Letras produced to date—each tailored to meet the needs of individual broadcasters.”
Telemadrid’s Sopa de Letras will be hosted by Jota Abril and is set to launch this weekend. Sopa de Letras Zagales, co-hosted by Miki Nadal and Vera Berges, launches on Aragón TV this week. Sopa de Letras is in its fifth season on Aragón TV.
The format was first remade in Uruguay, on Canal 4, while the first kids’ version was commissioned in Belgium. The format is under option in the U.K., Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Portugal, the Netherlands, and Greece.
